A statement from the Appointive Cabinet of the Florida Conference
Friday, March 13, 2020
Many of our local churches across Florida are cancelling public worship on Sunday, March 15, out of an abundance of caution. We support this action. We also support local churches who are continuing to offer public worship and taking precautionary measures. Many of our churches are offering worship in an online or live-streamed format. We have affirmed this and we plan to post some of these services on our conference website in the coming days.
As public health guidance continues to develop, we add an additional word - we recommend that adults who have chronic health challenges, or who the CDC recommends to avoid crowds as much as possible, consider not participating in public worship this weekend. We are each seeking to live into the “social distancing” that is required in the Coronavirus Pandemic, while also loving God, neighbor and self.
During this pandemic, we are exploring ways to strengthen our worship and spiritual life, our partnerships in communities, our service to the most vulnerable, and our connection through technology.
We urge our members to share this and the previous two communications from our annual conference. Lastly, the Coronavirus Pandemic is a fluid and changing reality, and we will remain flexible in communicating guidance with you.
